"Hangul Train" is an interactive game designed to help you learn Korean characters, words, and sentences.
Your goal is to answer questions correctly to add passengers (correct answers) to your train and increase your "Passenger Count."
How to Play:
Choose a Game Type:
Normal: Play at your own pace! The train leaves the station when you complete all questions in a level or if you get an answer wrong. Your journey continues as long as you keep answering correctly!
Leaving the Station: The train has a tight schedule and must depart in 60 seconds! See how many passengers you can get on board before time runs out. The game ends if the clock hits zero or if you pick a wrong passenger.
Wait for Me: The train is just about to leave, but it's willing to wait a little longer for each new passenger! Every correct answer resets the countdown for the next question. Don't let the timer run out, or the train will leave without you!
Choose a Game Mode:
Romanization Mode: You'll see Korean Hangul and need to type its correct Romanization.
Hangul Mode: You'll see Romanized Korean or English and need to type the correct Hangul.
Select a Difficulty: Each difficulty level has its own set of questions, from single characters to full sentences.
Answer Questions:
For 'Easiest' difficulty, you'll see four passenger options. Three of them are incorrect choices (bad passengers!)โchoose the right passenger to board your train.
For all other difficulties, type your answer into the text box and click 'Submit Answer' or press Enter.
Special Case: Fill-in-the-blank (Harder difficulty):
You will see a sentence with a missing word indicated by '___'. The word to be filled in is provided in parentheses after the blank.
In Romanization Mode, the sentence will be in Romanization, and the word to fill will be in Hangul in parentheses (e.g., '์ ๋ ___ (ํ์) ์ ๋๋ค.'). You must type the *Romanization* of the word in parentheses.
In Hangul Mode, the sentence will be in Hangul, and the word to fill will be in English in parentheses (e.g., '์ ๋ ___ (student) ์ ๋๋ค.'). You must type the correct *Hangul* for the English word in parentheses.
Endless Mode: This mode never ends unless you answer incorrectly. Questions are drawn from all levels and progressively get harder as your Passenger Count increases. After 100 passengers, questions are drawn randomly from any level except "Easiest" or "Easy."
Build Your Train: Each correct answer adds a passenger to your train (the horizontal line of squares above the question). Previous answers will shift left, simulating a moving train. Passengers stay on the train for a few questions, with the oldest ones disappearing as new ones are added, to maintain the moving effect.
Score: Your "Passenger Count" tracks how many correct answers you've accumulated.
Reset Game (Recycle Symbol): The recycle symbol () in the top-left corner is always visible and clickable. Click it to immediately reset the game to the main menu screen. This is useful if you want to start over quickly.
Game End:
If you answer incorrectly, or if the time runs out (in timed modes), the game ends. You'll see your final Passenger Count, your incorrect answer, and the correct answer. You'll then have options to "Play Again," "Main Menu," or "Carry on with Freeplay" (if you've completed a level).
If you complete all questions in a standard level, you'll reach the "Train Complete!" screen, with options to return to the Main Menu or continue in Freeplay mode for that level.
Game Reset:
When you start a new game or choose "Play Again," your train and score are fully reset, and a fresh set of randomized questions is drawn.
